More on French Travel Sketching Books
I have had some requests from folks who would like to see inside the three books discussed in my previous post.
Here is a sample page from each book:
Click on the images to see larger views, and on the titles for links to amazon.fr.
Créez et Composez Votre Carnet de Voyages:
It was hard to pick representative pages, but hopefully this gives you a flavor of each. The first book is a bit more focused on traditional watercolor painting and also has information on making the book itself. The other two have looser styles, and include information on collage techniques as well as drawing and painting.

I read these two posts several days ago, and ever since have been sorely tempted to buy the book I don’t have – by Duvoisin. Of the other two I prefer Ochoa’s Creer son Carnet de Voyage – but they’re all fun to look at, different from the illustrated journals Americans seem to do (if one can generalise); and I agree that you need little French to understand them. And Amazon.fr is as easy as Amazon.com to navigate… I see that Duvoisin also has a sketchbook of Venice that looks lovely… oh dear, oh dear.

What wonderful mementos to bring back. But I like your journals best. And when are you going to paint from wabbits?

Boy do they get technical. I will be in France this week end — if i get a chance, i’ll stop by the local FNAC and check them out.

these books look fabuleux and very inspiring; if i go to france this year i’ll look out for them. I used to sit in FNAC on a saturday afternoon in marseille looking through books and music. There was a great art shop in Aix called Chez Michel where i used to get my materials, i bet they have them too. Now i’m longing to go back.

YAY! Thank you so much! They look so great – I think I may have to go give Amazon.fr some of my money now. . .
