One Hundred Bottles of Wine on the Wall
I always enjoy spending time in my favorite tapas bar, César, in the heart of Berkeley’s “Gourmet Ghetto”. It’s a foodies dream; the food is divine and the drinks superb.
It’s always packed in the evenings, but afternoons are calm and quiet. It’s also a fun place to sketch; this is the same restaurant where I did the tapas sketches that ended up on my note cards.
This sketch shows just one of the many wood lined pantries behind the bar. The sketch is done on half of a spread in my (reloaded) Pocket Moleskine, so it’s a small one. It still required a full glass to wine to complete, however!

This sketch so perfectly captures all the bottles and drinks. Wonderful colors and execution!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and your warm comments, I too love bunnies, though I do not have a single one, unless you count the wild one in our back yard. Have you ever sketched yours?

Great “portrait” of a bar. And a drawing that requires a glass of wine is bound to be good!

It’s great, all the different bottles and colors. My favorite part though is that little plate of limes on the counter.

I LOVE your sketches!!! I am a sinner, my sketchbook is just lying there around with my colour pencils in vain. Thanks for inspiring me to draw again….
Did I say I love you already?

I enjoy the way the disarray increases going from the top line up to the bottom angles. A nice piece to study.
Thank you.

Martha,
What a lovely blog you have here – you’re an artist!
The sketches are beautiful, I love them!
Tks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment, so now I found your blog, too.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and thanks for the comment!
I really love the bare spare shapes of winter’s twigs…..
I also love your work! I think my favorite of all is the sunset with the Golden Gate in it…. I love the way you left the negative space of the trees at the bottom white…. Very nice.
I appreciate your directions on binding! I have made one fabric book, and am contemplating a few more, and know absolutely nothing about binding (winged that first one!). It surely helps to know how it can be done correctly!

Love this! I think I’ve already said that on Flickr – but felt the need to say it again. I LOVE it!

This is wonderful. I don’t know how you get so much detail into drawings done on location.
