Double Take
Don’t know why, but I never seem to draw the same thing twice. Yesterday though I drew a scene I had also done last year. This view is looking down from a second floor hair salon, onto the street below.
I was surprised when I pulled out the old sketch how similar the two are. I don’t love either one, but I think I have a slight preference for the older sketch.
I’m going on vacation tomorrow, for a week (Hawaii!). Hopefully I’ll come back with some interesting sketches to share.

Both are beautiful! Your colours are super. I just found too that you have a great article on bookbinding, just what I needed to know, thank you!

Martha I like both of them – and if I too prefer the one on the right, it’s only because, as Bill says, we’re up close to the scene. Lovely!

I like both too, and like you, prefer the one on the right, the older. I think because we’re zoomed in more, feel closer to the “action.” And, also in the older, there is a pathway into the scene. Nice variety in those greens. Hawaii! You do get around! Hope it’s restful for you and enjoyable.
By the way, I got my hands on some Fabriano Artistico, hot press and cold press. Tried the HP out this eve, a few minutes ago. Nice. I haven’t painted hot press for years (except if you consider some sketchbook paper hot press–it nearly is). Aloha.
