Around Berkeley
Here are a couple of Berkeley sketches I made last Saturday in the downtown area, in between errands. The first is the airy reading room at the public library. The building was beautifully renovated recently, and its art deco roots are well preserved.
The library doesn’t have a cafe though, and so on to Peet’s Coffee across the street. I grabbed a quick sketch and a quick cappuccino!

I discovered you through your comments on Wagonized, who I adore. Your watercolors are wonderful. I love your style, there is a warmth and lots of personality in your painting. The softness in the colors you use is very effective.

Great sketches Martha…I find sketching is much more fun with a cuppacino in hand!

I like the interesting bird’s eye view of these two spots. That library sure is a beauty, isn’t it!

I lived in Berkeley for six years. I spent HOURS in that library (before the renovation, but with the same high windows). Thank you for the wonderful reminders.
