I use a fountain pen with black ink. The pen makes lines of varying width depending on the pressure used. I put the ink down before the paint and yes, that line is the center of the book.

They’re wonderfully dimensional and apple-like with those beautiful Martha colors and lines. I love the bunny picture on your Author page!

An interesting approach to paint apples. I like it. Are you using two pens with different shade of grey/black?
